講座内容
～loves, lives and exploits of Arthur's knights～
When the Romans left the British Isles after nearly four centuries of occupation, the Brythonic people faced new invaders from East and West. Symbolically defending their way of life were King Arthur and his knights. The Mabinogion legends tell us about their loves, lives and exploits. The stories were passed down in the oral tradition, recorded in various manuscripts in the 14th. century, in Middle Welsh. The class is conducted by a Welsh speaker using an English translation, this time by Stanley Francis Knoll (2022). The 2012 class used the classic Charlotte Guest translation.
